Miroslav Kodym: HAS THE STATE OF MARTIAL ARTS AFFAIRS IMPROVED AFTER THE REVOLUTION?
A philosophical reflection on the influence of social changes and open post-revolution opportunities on martial arts in the Czech Republic during the last ten years. One has to state an extreme boom of martial arts, their medial publicity, tens of different schools and concepts, occurrence of the most various teachers in this period. Scramble for success and money, commercialisation, advertising, globalisation and liberalisation concern the common social life, naturally there is no exception for martial arts. The same goes for ethics and morals as well. Need to struggle to bring martial arts and sports back to the ideas of a man's harmonic physical and psychical development, to hold them for a means to reach the required moral and ethical qualities, is emphasized.

She shares her experience with aikido with the Czech akidokai and declares the meaning of aikido for her life and work in a prison for juvenile criminals in the interview, that has been carried out during the CAA Winter School 1999.
