Pavel Václavík: SUMMER CAMP KARLOV 2001
Brief information about the 3rd summer camp for children practising aikido. There were only few of them there (less than 40), which was the only lack of the camp. The aikido adepts have been intensively practising aikido for 5 days, passed examinations for the 9-7th Kyu and joint their "civil" friends in the camp game of the old Roman period then. Both organizers and children enjoyed their stay.

Hana Schmidtmajerová, Jarka Janíčková: NEW MEETINGS IN THE NEW CENTURY 2001
Report on popular creative holiday workshops held traditionally in the Capuchin monastery in Mnichovo Hradiště, July. All activities (kathak dance, aikido, art, music and final theatre performance) were this year unified by the main theme - the influence of substantial elements (like earth, air, fire, water, metal etc.) on living beings. The author thanked to all supporting organisations in the end.

Ludvík Michalov, Monika Ranglová: AIKIDO AND THE MAIN PRINCIPLES OF STRETCHING
Both authors publish their modern knowledge of physical education and medicine concerning stretching. Strengthened is especially the importance of stretching for the aikido practitioners. Stretching generally escalates the corporal elasticity, supports one's physical and psychical contentment. The authors explain the physiological principles of stretching; describe different types of stretching exercises: active and passive, dynamic and static, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) methods, Holt's 3-S method and Sölverborn's post isometric relaxation. The choice of an appropriate method depends on one's health condition, age, sex, fitness and hereditary predispositions. The article results in description of a proper performance of stretching exercises with a special attention to correct breathing. A bibliographical survey is included.

Miroslav Kodym: ARMED TRAINING IN THE AIKIDO KENKYUKAI PRAHA DOJO (part VII) - KENJUTSU I
Another part of the technical glossary and instructions, this time on Kenjutsu after Gildo Mezzo. Besides description of various techniques a common characteristics is given in the introduction.

VIDEO "AIKIDO IN PERFECTION"
Ms A. Janků's Czech translation of interviews with outstanding aikido teachers (Senseis Ikeda, Tissier, Kanetsuka, Yamada, Hosokawa, Fujimoto, Asai and Tada) who took part in "Aikido in Perfection", in Basel, July 1999 - an aikido feast held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Swiss Aikikai (L´ACSA) existence (see our Aikido journal No. 3/1999). These interviews accompany a professional video recorded there which you may borrow in the CAA chancery or you may via CAA order it by the ACSA representatives.

THE HISTORY OF KENDO
Radek Lanc's translation of the B. H. Hazard's article "Kendo" published in the Encyclopaedia of Japan supplied by some sources obtained from the British Kendo Federation brings a brief history of kendo since the 6th century till these days.
