Summary Aikidó 5/2001

Ivan Fojtík: THE ART OF AN AMAZING CAT
An old Taoist and Zen story of a cat that conquered a big bad rat in the house of Shoken, the fencing master, this time after Mr. K. G. Dürckheim's version published in "Hara, centre vital de l'homme". The cat cultivates its unsuccessful co fighters and Shoken in the ideas that lead to one's victory; it presents a spiritual guidance on the way to the Self as a challenge for all masters. To be continued.

Halka Baláčková: KOKYU SOREND
Detailed description of a series of 9 breath exercises Kokyu Sorend after Sensei Tada in Michel Quaranta's explication includes the instructions how to practise them perfectly. These exercises bring a lot of energy, that's why it is optimal to start a new day or an intensive training with them. They have been practised in the Czech Republic since Mr. Veneri's (a Sensei Tada's pupil) first tutorial in 1987.

Miroslav Kodym: ARMED TRAINING IN THE AIKIDO KENKYUKAI PRAHA DOJO (part VIII) - KENJUTSU II
Another part of the technical glossary and instructions, this time on Kenjutsu after Gildo Mezzo, the first part of which Aikido 4/2001 brought.

Lukáš Kubín: SUSHI SANDWICH
Presentation of a new healthy "fast food" based on traditional Japanese sushi available in Prague ONIGRI bar. Sushi sandwich is a typical sandwich with layers of tasty flavoured rice instead of sliced bread and various fillings like fresh vegetables, cheese, ham, fish and sea fruits all completed by the seaweed Nori as the most important ingredient. Thanks to all used ingredients they are nutritious, satisfying and easy to digest. More information on www.sushisandwich.cz.

John Stevens: AIKIDO - THE WAY OF HARMONY
Unofficial M. Kodym's translation of the first chapter John Stevens's book: The Secrets of Aikido. The whole book in Mr. Gambesan's translation published by FIGHTERS Publication Prague in the end of 2001 is at a reduced price available in the AKP Dojo. The Way of Harmony deals with the elementary concepts of Aikido. (See also Aikido 2/2001 - a chapter on Ki).

Martin Poláček: THERE IS ONLY ONE AIKIDO
On one's personal experience based reflection about homogenous aikido spiritual elements which are of its nature regardless to neither man's approach nor individual physical condition.
